The bioreactor (Belach Bioteknik AB) is a stainless steel vessel in-situ sterilisable, with a total volume of 784 litres. It is suitable for batch and fed-batch cell cultivations with a typical working volume for E. coli between 200 and 500 litres. The bioreactor is fitted with magnetic coupled bottom-drive stirrer with three 4-bladed impellers, four vessel-mounted baffles for mixing enhancement, stainless steel frame system with integrated motor drive, thermo-system, sterile filters and load cells. The BIO_Phantom PC based software control allows advanced regulations for stirrer, level, temperature, DOT, pH, redox, pressure, gas flow and pumps. Gas analyser for outlet gas is available. The bioreactor can operate at temperatures ranging from 5 °C to 100 °C. Five controlled and sterilisable stainless steel addition vessels of 20 to 100 litres capacity are connected to the bioreactor.
