A number of downstream processing methods are available
for concentrating and recovering partially or highly purified products
produced in the bioreactor. In the case of intracellular products,
the cells are harvested and then disintegrated to release the product.
Before packed bed chromatography operations the product is separated
from particulate matter like cell debris. We have great experience
of continuous centrifugation, cell disintegration, cross flow membrane
filtration, and extraction in aqueous two-phase systems. In the
case of extracellular products the cells are removed by centrifugation,
cross flow filtration or expanded bed adsorption. |
