Partners
KTH Biotechnology - Wood Biotechnology, Stockholm
SLU, Agricultural University of Sweden, Umeå University;

Mission
Wood fibre modification through integrated use of genomics, proteomics and protein engineering, including:
EST-sequencing in the wood-forming tissues of hybrid aspen
• Expression profiling to identify genes involved for wood formation
• Identification of enzymes involved in wood fibre biosynthesis and modification
• Development of new enzymatic tools for fiber modification
• Large-scale enzyme production
• Poplar cell suspension cultures as a model for wood formation

Program funding for the Center was completed in 2002. You can find further information on the current state of Wood Biotechnology research in Sweden on the homepage of the Division of Glycoscience, KTH School of Biotechnology.
